What to Expect During Your Consultation
You will have private, personal consultation with Dr. Yu. During this time, you and Dr. Yu will realistically discuss you goals. An eyelid lift may be performed alone or in combination with other facial surgeries, in order to meet your needs. You and Dr. Yu will determine which procedures are right for you and you will be able to see before and after photos of patients who have had this procedure.

About Eyelid Cosmetic Surgery
During your eyelid lift cosmetic surgery, you will be resting under twilight anesthesia. Dr. Yu usually completes both upper and lower eye lift surgery in 1 to 2 hours. For the upper eyelid, Dr. Yu makes incisions following the natural lines of your eyelids. Dr. Yu will generally conceal the incision within the natural fold of your upper eyelid. He then removes any excess skin and fatty tissue.
For the lower eyelid, Dr. Yu often conceals an incision below your lower lashes or inside the lower eyelid. Through this incision, he removes any excess skin, muscle and fat. In some cases, Dr. Yu may redistribute this fat to eliminate puffiness or bulges around your eyes.
Recovery from Eyelid Surgery
You’ll go home without any bandages covering your eyes. Dr. Yu will recommend that you keep your head elevated for several days following your surgery. Medication can minimize any discomfort. You should heal within a couple of weeks and feel comfortable revealing your refreshed appearance. Sutures are generally removed 4 to 5 days after surgery.
Canthopexy is a procedure Dr. Yu performs to raise the corners of the eyelids and give a more youthful, almond-like shape. It is also used for tightening the lower eyelid when it is too lax and to prevent the complications of eyelid malposition after surgery.

Dr. Yu removes fatty tissue in lower eyelid surgery procedures. The surgery is performed through the inside part of the eyelid so that no external visible scar is created. If excessive skin or muscle folds are found below the eye, an incision may also be made just below the base of the lashes.
