Breast Reconstruction
Some women conquer breast cancer but lose one or both breasts during their struggle with the disease. After surviving this life-threatening illness, a woman may feel badly about herself from the disfigurement that can take a huge toll on her self-confidence and feelings of attractiveness. Women don’t have to settle for the results of mastectomy surgery. On the day of your surgery, you will simply arrive and receive gentle, compassionate, competent care beginning the moment you walk through the door.
About Breast Reconstruction Surgery
During your breast reconstruction surgery, you will be asleep under anesthesia for your comfort and safety. If you have undergone a mastectomy or radiation therapy, you may have insufficient tissue on your chest wall to cover or support a breast implant. Dr. Yu may use either a flap technique or tissue expansion to accommodate your breast implant.
When performing a flap technique, Dr. Yu uses donor muscle, or fat and skin from your abdomen or back to reconstruct your breast. You may choose breast implants as an addition or alternative to flap techniques. During office visits, Dr. Yu’s tissue expansion technique will stretch your healthy skin to provide coverage for a breast implant over the course of several months. Dr. Yu provides both saline and silicone implants for your breast reconstruction procedure.
